RP Approach and Docking procedures for Planet Malta Empty

1. Approach

1.1 Upon entering the Malta system immediately move to a safe distance from the jumphole you entered by, loitering near a jumphole is a serious navigational hazard.
1.2 Tune your comms to Malta Traffic control (henceforth referred to MTC) and alert them to your presence, location, intended destination and cargo.
1.3 Upon recieving approach clearance from MTC immediately navigate to the holding position given to you, usually 2.0km from the docking rings. Power down your engines and await a cargo scan.

2. Docking

2.1 Following a successful scan MTC will grant docking clearance and assign you a birth. Approach the docking facility under impulse power only, slowing your engines to 1/3 power for the final approach.
2.2 During the docking manouver be constantly aware of surrounding hazards such as other vessels and debris. Traffic in the area should be kept clear by MTC but accidents still happen.
2.3 Engage docking clamps, shut down engines, and enjoy your stay on Malta.

3. Un-docking

3.1 Prior to undocking from Malta contact MTC to gain clearance, stating your intended destination in system (Jumphole or other Base). MTC will grant you clearance to undock once the traffic pattern outside the facility is clear, please be patient.
3.2 MTC may request you to hold at 2.0km for a further cargo scan. After that you will be granted flight clearance to you destination.
3.3 Engage your engines and leave the Malta orbit area as quickly and safely as possible. Traffic control is always busy and does not have the time to monitor idling vessels.

4. Requesting Escort

4.1 Here at MPA we take great pains to ensure the smooth flow of goods to and from our systems. It is in our best interests to ensure the safe passage of transports to and from Malta. If you require an escort on an inbound journey, contact MTC and state your current position and intended route. MTC will attempt to task the bearest outcast vessel to your position to act as your escort. Please note this is not always possible.
4.2 If you are on an outbound journey, again contact MTC before undocking and state your destination. MTC will attempt to task you an escort form in-system vessels or assign you a MPA escort from our fleet

NOTE: If you forget any of these procedures dont worry. MPA traffic control will talk you through your approach and departure as they are trained to do. It will soon become second nature to you during your trade runs to Malta.

(OOC NOTE) The above is not law, it is purely in the spirit of RP. It is partly an attempt to clear up the skies around Malta and part attempt and promoting social interaction for likeminded players. You, as a visitor to Malta are not bound in anyway to follow the above procedures but we hope that you do. Keep in mind though that should MPA ever achieve official status we will be lobbying the Dons for certain laws to be applied to Malta approach and docking, you have been warned
